engaging styles

Saturday, August 6th, 2005

once upon a time, i was with my friends, talking. there were four of us. there should have been six in complete formation. but the other two were out of town, so there were only four of us there.

at that moment, there were only me, bangke, dbp, and aa (not their real names). we were gathering at bangke’s house. it was quite late at night when the four of us decided to play the game winning eleven at bangke’s ps2 gaming console.

as the game went on (i forgot it was who versus who) suddenly one of us said something. i believe it was aa but it could probably dbp, i don’t know for sure.

it was more of less like this.

that each and every one of our style in playing winning eleven actually represented our style of engaging girls

for example, bangke. in playing his team, he usually used the strategy of short passing and holding the ball in his possession. sometimes he even made use of his seemingly arrogance individual skills to get by the opponent. looking for some chances at certain points to score. even when he already got the ball in front of the goal he didn’t do direct shooting. instead he usually passed it into another player or tried to trick on the goalkeeper. he wanted to be sure that he got a clean shot into the goal without having anyone get in his way. but it was what made him usually lost his chance to score.

different from bangke, dbp played fast on short passes. his dominant strategy was using fast and accurate passes between players until he got close enough to the goal. he didn’t want to hold the ball too long on one player as well as giving the chance for the opponent to take possession of the ball. sometimes, he wouldn’t hesitate to use direct tackling if necessary to get the ball from the opponent. as of when he already got in near the goal, he wouldn’t waste any chance. even if the player still outside of the penalty box, he would do the shooting, not to mention if he’s got into the penalty box. the point is, play short and fast passes and then shoot as you got the chance.

and as for the relevance to engaging girls?
well, bangke tends to take it slow. relax and nothing to lose. he always wanted to make sure that the girl felt it too. this may take quite a long time but he’d endure it. as for the girl? she may not. that’s when he came in. so he made it as if the girl who makes the first move instead of him. more or less.
dbp plays fast. he get along with girls easily and he wouldn’t take time. once he knows a girl and feels right with her, he’ll do it asap, no matter what. once in a while, even though he just knew a girl for a week, he already engaged her in the following week. more or less, that is.

so…what’s your style then?
